Yes, as You know, the immobilizer or anti-theft system verifies that the key used to turn the engine on is the correct one.
If the key is not the correct one, this system blocks different actions to prevent the car from starting, seen🤔?
The car’s computer will disable, the fuel pump, gears’ transmission, the ignition coil and/or the injectors, and depending on the electronic immobilizer system, it could also block the steering column which will lock the steering wheel.
When this system is activated, a warning light such as👇 will turn on!

Infrared (IR) communication requires a direct line of sight between the transmitter and the receiver👌!
The radio waves(RF) can pass through walls, almost any other barriers🧐.

That’s why some BENZ (remote) keys only work,
if directly pointing at that ZNEB🤐!

Mercedes Benz‘s ‘ujinga’ is known as;
DAS, Drive Authorization System!
This DAS has the🤔;
Vehicle Access function to manages locking and unlocking the vehicle doors and trunk using radio frequency (RF) signals (or infrared).
This provides keyless entry or remote central locking ‘ujinga’👌!

Engine Starting, in fact, the immobilizer function which electronically validates the key to ensure it belongs to that specific vehicle.
And this is the nonsense we’re here for, insha’Allah🤞!
When a valid key, P, is detected, a coded data exchange occurs between this key,
and
the N73 Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS /EZS),
and
the N3/9 or N3/10 but the Engine Control Module (ECM), and other relevant control units.
Only after all components successfully agree on the authorization code is the engine allowed to start.
BENZ’s immobilizer system, DAS, has versions, DAS1, DAS2, DAS3, DAS4, DAS5, DAS10000😁😂!

Just the door-lock switch connected to the PSE module, controlling the Stater relay!
For now, the engine ECU is not yet involved, in validating the key!
The DAS-1 would later be improved to using Infrared keys!

the key, A, spits out the infrared signal, H, but just for car access verification!

In some Benz settings, the module, J, needs both the Vehicle-access & Engine-Start verification to be validly, clean👌!

Yes, You have a valid key with correct transponder, M, but the Engine will NOT be allowed to start🤷♂️,

The programming is H and 2H, NOT, 2H with or without H😁😂😁
The two departments,
Vehicle Access & Engine Starting,
in some BENZ settings, they depend on each other!
In other BENZ settings, they are independent of each other!

DAS-3
All this mechanical ‘analog’ 😁 setup in DAS-2,
DAS-3 completely eliminated the mechanical tumblers in at the ignition switch, into the EIS /EZS👌!
The ESL / ELV further toughened the security😎!

DAS-3 started as just this simple🤠!
In DAS-3, the EIS (N73) EZS took over the work of the Infrared Remote Central Locking (RCL) control module, N54, in the DAS-2!
Try to imagine the DAS3‘s EIS like those
simple, engine-start modules in DAS2!
In DAS-3, the security data was further spread to include in the ESL/ELV📌!
P) Most DAS-3 keys are InfraRed (IR),
and some few DAS-3 keys are, Radio frequency (RF)

DAS-4
DAS4 is what makes other BENZ’s everything wireless and more security complicated!
Just imagine the DAS-3 configuration🤔,
but with DAS-4 keys, A2 or A3, strictly of Radio Frequency RF, enabling the keyless entry function👌!
Sometimes, using the number digits on a BENZ’s keyfob, could help seperate a DAS-3 keyfob, from a DAS-4’s!
In DAS-4, including the TCM, ESL, ECU, and EIS, any other system’s module could randomly be included in the Engine-Start enable process!
With recent Mercedes Benz’s enhanced security, while attempting to do some kind of ECU programming 🤔..
..or,
in fact, like key programming could require an internet connection to retrieve data, and or authorization through 💻 Benz’ factory’s computers in their MASAILAND, a.k.a, Deutschland🤠!
Recent Mercedes Benz keys use some advanced type rolling codes that change with every use👌.
So, the online 💻connection allows the programming tool to communicate with Mercedes💻Benz’s computers in Deutschland to obtain the unique, encrypted data necessary to pair a new key with a specific vehicle’s Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS) module.
This online check-up prevents unauthorized key cloning, or any car hacking, significantly securing this Benz🔑!

As we discussed about that unique VIN-Specific Data, where each new key must be uniquely tied to a specific vehicle’s VIN (Vehicle Identification Number).
The online connection ensures that the correct, specific data file for that exact VIN is downloaded and written to the new key, rather than using generic or copied data.
Obviously, ‘kama kawa’ 🍻 the process of programming a new BENZ key involves securely de-authorizing any lost or stolen keys from the car’s memory via the online connection, which invalidates the Lost Keys, rendering them useless if they fall into the wrong hands🤷♂️!
